It’s 1959, and Rydell High School’s senior class is in rare form. The too-cool-for-school “Burger Palace Boys” are stealing hub-caps and acting tough and their gum-snapping, chain-smoking “Pink Ladies” are looking hot in bobby sox and pedal pushers. The 1950’s high school dream is about to explode in this rollicking musical that is both an homage to the idealism of the fifties and a satire of high schoolers’ age-old desire to be provocative and rebellious. At the heart of the story is the romance between hot-rodding gangster Danny Zuko and the sweet new girl in town, Sandy Dumbrowski. They had a secret romance in summer, but now back in the context of school, peer-pressure and cliques make their love a bit more complicated. Can Danny maintain his cool dude status and still make demure Sandy his girl? The whole gang sings and dances around Danny and Sandy’s romance, through such hit songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "We Go Together”, and “Mooning”, recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Starting off with an eight-year Broadway run, Grease is among the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following, especially among teens!

The Cloughton Rat Pack

Friday 17th August at 7:30pm

All seats £12.50

Event Details...

The Cloughton Rat Pack are a group of five local lads - Paul Mintoft (Sog), Steve Chambers, Tim Osbourne, Clive Welburn and Jeremy (Jez) Pratt - who all have a love of the sounds and humour of the famous Rat Pack - Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop.

The show features many of the songs made famous by these huge American icons. All backed by the fantastic King Willy's Big Band, under the direction of Will Oseland. There will also be madcap humour and antics in abundance!

The Cloughton Rat Pack have donated all the proceeds from their previous shows to local charities. They have raised thousands over the last few years. Tonight's lucky charities are Saint Catherine's and Scarborough YMCA.

RAT PACK taken from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The RAT PACK was a super-group of actors originally centred on their leader, Frank Sinatra. Later it was revealed by Sinatra that Joey Bishop headed the bunch. By the 1960's, it was the name used by the press and the general public to refer to a later variation of the group that called itself "the Summit" or "the Clan", featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop; they appeared together on stage and in films in the early 1960s, including the movies Ocean's 11, Sergents 3, and Robin and the 7 Hoods (in the last film, Bing Crosby replaced Lawford). Sinatra, Martin, and Davis were regarded as the group's lead members.
